I need to go to Immigration in Nathon and was just told not to bother because it's a holiday and it will be closed. Can anyone confirm this?

Apparently so, the missus told me this morning as I was going to the bank. Did a bit of research and apparently its Labour Day whatever that means (I thought that was American).

I have heard rumours about Monday being a holiday as well, don't know if anyone can confirm (Coronation Day?).

Yes, Monday, May 5 is a holiday and most banks, gov't offices, and schools will be closed. Also be wary of May 10 (Buddhist holiday) some possible closures of some businesses then, too.

Should be open today and tomorrow

Not being rude but,, Nowhere on Samui is far from Immigration. Go and have a look.

By all accounts they do not recognize Labour Day Bank holiday.

I don't drive so It'll cost around 500 baht there and back on a motorbike (50 baht for you old timers), more in a taxi or I could wait all day for a songthaew to come by Bangrak. Last time I took one back from Nathon took 45 minutes to find one (had to go to the ferry terminal and even then wait around until the driver felt he had enough passengers to be worth it) and another 45 minutes for it to finally stop off in Bangrak.

Not all accounts according to some of the accounts posted here.
