Havana Club Fidel

Featured Replies

When looking from the Skytrain down towards sukhumvit soi 7/1 there is a sign at the top of the Star Inn reading "Havana Club Fidel".

Does anyone know why this sign is there? Looks rather strange in this part of the world.

No idea, but I know the sign you mean.

Maybe it's a smoking joint, would be in the right location. :o

Maybe Mr Castro owns this club .hehehe

I've always wondered about this place. :o

In the lobby of the Star Hotel is a small cigar bar. Actually nice selection of Cuban cigars. Not sure how the recent smoking ban has affected them ?

They do have a nice selection of cigars. I was out late a few weeks back and in the mood for a cigar or two to take home and remembered they had some Cubans, so I dropped in. They had a buy 3 get 1 free deal going on. Trouble is, their nice-sized Bolivars and Cohibas were a bit moldy from being over humidified, and a bit too pricey.

They had some smaller Punch and Romeo Julietas that were okay though.

And, no, you can't buy three of the cheaper ones and then get a free Cohiba. Not unless you are ready to grapple with the large ladyboy bartender-hostess.

For smoking your cigar, there's an outdoor area, but because the smoking ban only seems to be spottily observed and enforced, you could probably light up inside if you want.

For a moment I thought it was a news headline announcing Fidel had been clubbed by the population of Havana...

yikes...
