Visa Fine Point

Featured Replies

Here is a question, that I have been unable to search out an answer.

In a passport that has a Non Imm B that is good til Oct 08, with multiple entry;

The passport expires November 08;

The current 90 stamp expires June 08;

At that date in June 08, the passport will no longer have a "min. 6 month life";

I understand that as far as Thailand is concerned,the holder can re-enter Thailand, on the orig Non Imm B visa up to and including the day before the visa expires.

But without a 6 month remaining life, would the holder be able to go across to Laos at Chiang Khong, to be able to re=enter Thailand, in June 08 ?

Be safe not sorry. Get a new passport early.

And after you get a new passport, you can have your current permission to stay stamp transfered from your old passport into your new passport. They will not transfer the visa to your new passport, but you can still use it by showing both passports to immigration when you enter the country.

I am in a similar situation with my Non-O expiring in October, and the passport expiring in December.

Every single person I have spoken to with knowledge about these things has told me to get a new passport before my next border run is due in July.

As I have a passionate dislike for Bangkok, my lawyer is currently in negotiations with the UK embassy on how she can go and do it for me. I will update when I get an answer.
