flamingtodd Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Well, Bob is my step-dad. He just retired here, and is sorta lost without someone shooting at him, or someone to shoot at. I would watch what I said about this guy, that is not his avatar, thats really him. Teeth, snout and all. I am on a once a year, same place, same time, vacation thing a "family member" started, and he was supposed to go to KL for his visa processing. When I read he was in Penang, I knew that he took my motorcycle, which needs a visa, and a special license plate for Malaysia. Sometimes I wonder how tangents get started, but leave it to the people here, and you'll be suprised where these topics go.
geriatrickid Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 ahh the joys of family. At least this time it's not an errant teenager coming home drunk spewing the nights bar take on the front steps..........
bigbadbob Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 I am back in Phuket now. I didn't hear about any visas being refused but I used Banana visa service and just dropped it off and picked it up. But I have heard that the Thai government has been making it difficult for people who have overstays on tourist visas (I know a guy that was stuck there for about 3 months with that problem) The ride down wasnt bad and didn't have any problems with the bike not having the licence sticker in english. Though, some people I met in Penang did say that it is easy to get the sticker and if I had any problems in Malaysia (i.e. accident) it would be much better to have it. Had a bit of rain on the way back and stayed in Trang for one night, so it took me a bit longer than expected to get back. One thing about Penang is that it has great Indian food, when is someone going to open a truly great Indain place in Phuket? There is only one place where I reside and it is marginal at best.

Thanks for that bob, and glad the bike went well, is there any chance mandy can have it back now!!!
flamingtodd Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 It's not Mandy's (amanda76) bike, it's MY bike. It's no wonder communication is such an issue here. We all speak and type in english and we still get confused. Mandy (amanda76 for the bi-focal-ers) hates motorcycles like mine. She has a Brittish SUV (don't get me started)with a bumper for running them down. Beware of Amanda!
