jonniebkk
As I'm getting ready for my annual trek back Stateside, I have been pricing electronics online to see what I should pick-up at home and what is ok price wise to pick up in LOS. One item I wanted was another external HD. 250GB seems to be the sweet spot now and Amazon has the WD 2.5" Passport on sale for US$ 100 (about B 3200) - down from the regular price of US$ 179. I priced at Tuk Com Pattaya this morning and the same WD was offered for US$ 146 (B 4570) - 44% more. I then priced a non-branded 250GB 2.5 HD at one of the shops where you buy the drive and a box separately and they put it together for you. The lady quoted me a price of US$ 112 (B 3500), only US$ 12 more than the Amazon Passport (or 10% more than the discounted Amazon price) and 30% less than the branded Passport for sale a couple counters away. Needless to say, I went with buying the separates. And though it is not a WD "Passport," the drive that the lady used for my set-up was in fact a Western Digital drive Edited May 5, 2008 by jonniebkk
