Recovering Files

Featured Replies

My external harddrive just died, taking 250GB pictures, documents, movies and tv-shows with him. I can live without the pictures and movies, but it also decided to take with him about 15 pages of my master thesis. For some reason I had only saved in the external HD, and not the internal in my notebook. Is there any place in bkk that can recover this textfile? Any help or advice would be appriciated.

Does the computer recognise the device as a drive but can't read from it?

No, when I turn on the external HD it only makes a few clicking noises and then nothing happens.

Unfortunate. If the drive is physically non-functioning then there are facilities in Bangkok to deal with it but they will not be cheap, irrespective of the quantity of data to recover. Did the drive just suddenly stop working or has it been making odd, possibly intermittent noises for a while?

dam_n...the file I need is only a couple hundred KB. The drive just died suddenly and took with him over a weeks worth of work. How much money are we talking about here?

is it USB powered or does it have its own power supply ?

if just USB , you might want to try a desktop USB port

Oh glorious day! After turning it on/off 50 times I got it to work for 1 minute...all I needed to transfer the file. Remember people, take backups!!!!

Thank for all the tips...good to know that help is just a forumpost away.

Try Spin Rite for emergency file recovery.
