Cuban Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I found this image while looking up lightning photography - how to capture this type of event? (Also thought it was good to share.) Few active volcanoes in Thailand to practice on but you know what I mean.
astral Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 That link does show a spectacular photograph. Even without the volcanoes there are some good opportunities for lightning photos in the wet season of Thailand. Keep your eyes peeled and your camera ready.
Crossy Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 I'm a brute force and ignorance shooter (of lightning). Canon EOS D-60 with Canon EF 17-35 f4L @ 17mm, exposure 30s @ f10 & ISO 100 Try this for size. Camera on tripod pointing in a likely direction Shutter set to 30s (that's the slowest my D60 will go) ISO and aperture for about 3 stops under exposure (the lightning flash will illuminate the scene nicely) I have a remote release that locks, with it locked the camera just keeps on firing until the flashcard is full Crack a beer When the camera stops shooting replace the card Examine the contents for spectacular images I also fix the white balance, street lights make the images too yellow.
