I like this program a lot but have one suggestion:

The way that when an audio group is selected the list scrolls immediately back to the start. Since I don't see the logic of this, I suggest that when a group is selected the highlighted group remains in view and highlighted. That will make it just perfect.

By the way, the lessons book is excellent ! - will more chapters be added ?

I upgraded my SpokenThai to the new version yesterday, which has just been released with the following improvements (extract from the download page )

. Added over 4,000 new audio files - Total of 18,000 files.

. Added 25 new audio categories - Total of 125 categories.

. Customize categories list

Added Hot Keys:

. SPACE - to Start auto-play of sound:.

. SHIFT + P - to go Back to previous category.

. ENTER - to replay sound:

This program is my favourite out of the books and one or two of my programs that I have purchased and owned. Non users wishing to learn to speak may wish to take a look. With the additions in the new release it is even better.

I agree with mni about the scrolling. Whilst not important to the functioning of the program I consider mni's suggestion would be nicer and more standard with how other Windows applications operate with lists.

You can see details of what it offers and screen shots and download the complete upgrade (existing registered users), or download a trial (new users) on

http://www.onlinethaidictionary.com/SpokenThai.html

The audio files are of very high quality human voice and displayed phonetics use English alphabet and not International phonetics which I for one was never taught)

A small tip:

Use their downloader utility, it will be faster and saves you having to do individual file downloads. In Thailand on my 1025/512 line it took 2½ hours to download the files 125 audio category files due to their high quality and there now being 18,000 words (24,000 including phrases and sentences).

If you cannot let your PC run that long in one go (or have a slower connection NO PROBLEM you can download any number of files in one go that you chose or even break the downloading and later start again from the last previously downloaded file.

Hope this info is of interest.

(Those who know me know that I have NO commercial interest in this product, nor am I an commercial advertiser in any way- just a happy user)

I have been trying to buy it for the last few days but it will not accept my credit cards and it does not give any reason so that I can correct it

Anyone ordered "Spoken Thai" program from a computer in Thailand usinga UK credit card/UK address?

Is it possible to buy this using a UK credit card if you are based in Thailand. The CC order page asks for your location and postcode - I assume it means the ones your credit card are lined to - in my case a UK address, but the IP address logged will be a Thai one. Sometimes this is interpreted as a fraud attempt - which I want to avoid happening.

I have ordered several software items from different sources from Thailand without problem on my UK Visa card that has a UK billing address connected to it (bank will not allow a Thai address)

I have also had two non software items delivered to me here in Thailand even though my Visa billing address a UK address. My Bank's accepted the billing address and 3 digit code expiry date etc as all matched up.

Now with "certified by Visa" there are even more safeguards, although not all Internet retailers are on that safer security system yet.

Dave
