Got this little water fall / pool infront of the house, which has been a algae nightmare. Cleaned it, and in 3 days, had to drain it again as the water was growing tons of Algae.

In the last filling, threw in 7kg of Salt ( est 1000 l. of water ) which slowed down the algae, but did not eliminate it.

Got some chlorine ( say Ca CL2 O2 on the jar ). how much to put in there. Since no one will swim, dont mind putting more in there.

Cheers.

If the algae comes back your swimming pool water is just not in balance. And probably the water is just to warm and therefore the algae grows like hel_l and can only be killed by chlorine as you noticed.

A few years back I had the right numbers in my head, but I am getting older and older. Get in touch with a pool equipment supplier, if there is any in Thailand, and discuss the problem with him. There you should also be able to buy a kit to measure/monitor your pool water.

Out there in the sunshine, so it can get luke warm. The salt has slowed it down significantly, but I am amazed how it can still slowly procreate.

You need a measuring tool which you can buy from any pool supplier, because chlorine alone is not enough if the Ph of the water is not balanced. Depending on the Ph you might have to add acid or soda ash.

Sounds complicated but in reality it isn't. Chlorine best to add evenings as evaporates quickly, but for 1000 liter you won't need much.

Hope to have helped.

cheers

Just a follow-up.

pool out front has lots of water lilies now, and is clear. water fall thingy in front of the house - put chlorine in it, and its been clean for quite some time.

The pool up front, made of concrete has cracked ( subsidence of ground )- would be about 2.5 inches thick walls, with i assume a base that thick too. developer gonna make a new one for me, but no more warranty after. if i get them to make the base i.e. 3 to 4 inches thick, and put some re-bars in there, will that be strong enough to support the water lilly pool ( 3x3 meters ) if there are future shifts in earth underneath ?
