May 13, 200818 yr Might be able to help you out there Bob. Not a bar, but My mates and me go for a drink at a shop near where we work on a regular basis. You can sometimes get some fish and chips on a Friday night too. No frills but cheap ale and a good laugh. Let us know if you,re up for it.
May 14, 200818 yr Depends whether you consider Sukhumvit or Silom etc "close to Lad Prao". Certainly closer than Pattaya. AFAIK, there are no Irish/English bars, nor many popular "western bars" anywhere around Lad Prao, Viphawadi, Pohin Yothin, Ratchada. 15-30 min ride on the subway will get you where you want to be though. At least a dozen to pick from.

May 19, 200818 yr In Lat Praow there is a pub called "Pathe" which specilaises in playing old vinyl records. The records are the owners collection and he has about 500 old LP's ranging from George Benson to Steeley Dan, the food is great and the beer is reasonably priced. The pub is situated close to the Union Mall as it goes around the corner to where St. John's University is. Glad to help on my first ever post here!

I'll definitely check it out based on your advice. Sounds like my kind of place!

That bar on the roundabout has great food and good priced beer. They give you a glass with ice set in the bottom to keep the beer cold. When the ice starts to melt. They give you a new glass.
