Hey guys, just an update:

I have recieved my retail key by email from a firend, created my account, updated my beta client, logged in, and played.

everything seems to be working fine, with around 350 ping. The "recomended" oceanic server is Gwahlur for PVE, and Bloodspire for PVP.

I cna play, but the game is laggy as h*ll, i get regular lag spikes that hit 10k latency, i experimented yesterday and rerolled, its strange how the starting area is unaffected by the lag, its only when you start getting to Tortage that the lag starts apeparing... my main character also gets it in the next city... makes this game very difficult to play as its a lot faster paced

There's a lengthy thread about it in the official forums, and it happens to people from Australia to Utah. 10 minutes of normal play-time and then BAM 10k ping. Chat, however, seems to be unaffected. I've had it happen to me too, and my friend is experiencing it as well. Seems to be a problem with the client itself, I think. They'll probably fix it in an upcoming patch (I hope).

I had True on the phone yesterday (i opened a support ticket with them about my connection problem) and we were running different tests n stuff, they have opened the ports or whatever was blocking me (yay i can log in without using a proxy!) and my lag spikes have pretty much disappeared!

I think throughout the afternoon and evening (maybe 6 or so hours of play) i had two small spikes that lasted less than a few seconds... put it this way, those were the only spikes i noticed, if i was spiking more than that it was happening during load screens or in places it didnt really matter (running around town etc)

p.s. the game plays very well on 300-350ms latency, a couple of times i *felt* the lag, but generally i didnt really notice it. That supprises me cos with the new style combat i thought the latency would effect me a lot more.

Will do when the servers come up late It was lagging out pretty bad again towards 5pm. Apparently there's a list ISP's that route the traffic to Funcom's servers in a way that causes large packet loss, though it could also just be individual ip addresses as well. I've never actually tried just restarting the router.

yeah your better off getting the US version as the Oceanic are US based. If you get the EU version you wont be able to play with the Aussies and Asians

Has anybody that ordered from play-asia.com received their shipment yet?

First, they said they would have the game on the 23rd. Then they said they couldnt ship my order because they were still waiting for the game cards (i had ordered it with the game) which were due yesterday(26th). I received an email yesterday saying they were preparing the order and that it will be shipped shortly. Still no word of shipment!

On another note, I was thinking of rolling on the PvP server but potential lag + apparent abundance of gankers has turned me off. See you guys in a few days in Gwahlur!

Been out today in Central Rama 3 and the PC Game Shops there (original copy shops) just look at me with that "he's a crazy falang" look when I say have you got Age of Conan, they never heard of it, lol

I have just pre-ordered (currently out of stock) 2 x AoC EU releases.

I am looking through your posts, and from what I am reading, it is not possible to play the EU version from Thailand, I would need the US version?

Can someone please clarify/confirm this to me? So I can order the 'correct' version for Thailand instead.

I am not sure if you will or wont be able to connect, but from a population point of view you would be better off getting the US version.

The US version is supposed to cover this side of the world, they have tagged some of the servers as "Oceanic recommended" and its the US version that ships to Australia. I know of a large Singapore based guild that also play the US servers and a whole host of Auzzie guilds also.

Unless you particularly *want* to play with the Europeans (i.e. established guild or funny hours of play) i would *highly* recommend you cancel that order and buy the US version.

Another reason not to play on european servers is that this part of the world generally gets less lag when connecting to US servers compared to Euro ones.

Another option to play could be to download the game( I think the early acces download is still out there) and find a website which can open ur purchase for u and email u the key. This can speed up access to the game as the retail version is still 1+ week away in thailand (considering the 1st shipments don't get sold out very quickly,etc).

MBK gameshop called me earlier today and said they now have Age Of Conan in stock

Just nipped over there and picked up the collectors edition of it

FYI the collectors edition comes with a 120 page full colour book on the making of the game with all the artwork, a cloth map, sountrack CD, exclusive in-game item which grants +2% exp and +3% STAM and best of all.... THE DRINKING CAPE!!! This in-game items grants the player FREE drink at every tavern in the game forever... Just can't turn down free beer!!

Cost was 4200THB and 60 day gamecards are 1290THB

I have the drinking cape as well, got it free from FunCom for being on their mailing list. The XP ring would be nice though!

Did you get a free mount? I got the Mammoth which i can use at lvl40 and a free 8 slot bag also (very useful as you dont get much space in your back pack). 4k sounds a bit steep, but i guess they have a mark-up as they have to import it themselves.

Not sure about the mount and bag... not mentioned on the box though (the box is A4 in size just like the old PC boxes used to be!)

One of the best collectors editions I've bought and worth the money for me... normally just get an extra DVD with the games producers droning on

Yeah no problem buddy, i've had all kinds of issues with the game, so have done a fair bit of research into the common problems people have. I'm happy to be first line tech support for you TV guys... like i said, just roll your character on the same server as me (Gwahlur) so we can all hook up and group together.

/Edit: Once i have got everything straight in my new place i will burn off a couple of copies of the EA Client for those of you who have asked me for a copy, i haven't forgotten guys, i've just been h*llishly busy these past few days!

Thanks Wolfie, I might just pick up a version from mbk now. Ian_B got their number? Do they have the regular version as well? I heard leveling is easy in aoc anyway so I don't really care about the xp ring the stamina boost is cool though.

Not got their number but the shop is easy to find as there are not many shops that sell originals in MBK

They have both the regular and I bet they have a few collectors editions too... never looked at the price of the regular version because once I saw the collectors edition I simply had to have it!

Hope they had the insight to buy more gamecards than games!
