Bars Closed Sunday / Monday?

Monday 19/05 is Visakha Bucha day. There is a rumour going round that this means that bars and entertainment venues will have to close at 18:00 on Sunday and remain closed through Monday.

Can someone confirm this, or otherwise?

Thanks,

DM

A manager of a bar I frequent confirms this, however she thinks that they won't have to close on Sunday night, just all day and all night Monday, unlike the Election closures. As usual in LoS everything is clear as mud! :o

If the Bars and Clubs close on a Monday where you come from is it really that big of a deal? Why is it even worth mentioning in Pattaya?

well ob not to you, but to many it is worth mentioning, many have to sort out staff etc and keep within the law, many again will say well if you cant do without a beer for a day etc, but again in most cases its not that, its the lack of knowledge, coupled with the inaccurate knowledge that makes you close shop, organise a day out with staff etc to find out everywhere is still open apart from you!

so no barry it aint a big deal, just nice to know one way or another and here in pattaya this Tv forum happens to be the most relible.

Bars will NOT have to close! (most probably, maybe, who knows ...)

Banks and government offices will be closed. It is being left up to individual bar owners whether or not to serve alcohol during this religious holiday. At the time of going to press, a police spokesman said that it is not mandatory for bars to close.

From the Pattaya Mail article here.

No big deal at all - just need to know if we can play in the pub quiz league on Sunday evening. Not bothered about Monday.

But "at the time of going to press" means last monday isn't it.Most of the time the bib can't even make up their mind 2 hours in advance.
