Working On Marriage Visa

Featured Replies

I'm on a marriage visa,my wife she is opening a restaurant can i work for her or I need a work permit issued by her company.Any referrals to old post or comments Thank you all.

Ubon :o

I'm no expert but the restaurant trade is 'restricted', that is pretty unavailable for foreigners to work in.

However, you may get a WP as a manager or such but I would take advice on that from someone such as Sunbelt.

I have heard of foreigners being able to work behind a bar so that may provide a getout for you. Wife opens restaurant AND bar.

Do not work in the restaurant until you have a work permit.

It was my feeling i needed a confermation.Thank you very much. :o

Or get her to pay tax on 40k a month and you can piggy back on that to get an annual extension.

But he would still not be able to work without a work permit and would be unlikely to get one for working in a restuarant.

My last work involved a Japanese restaurant.  They had foreign chefs and hall service managers, all with proper WP (described as working as chefs or managers) and required taxes, social security fees etc. paid each month.  The company had the required registered capital and local staff numbers also.  Education wise, the foreigners mostly had highschool certificates but had experience in the restaurant & service industry.

I don't know whether the type of restaurant/bar (eg. Thai/foreign, big establishment/stall) will influence your chances of getting a WP, but my humble opinion is that they would give you the WP if your company says they need you.

Hope this is usefull in some way.

Yes,it is an italian restaurant and we are going to have a wood fire pizza oven and of course in Ubon is not easy to find an italian pizza chef that can work with the wood fire oven wich is quite different than an eletric or gas oven it require same experience.

Thanks :o
