Cross Border Or Report To Immigration Office?

Featured Replies

Hi there.

I am currently in bangkok on a 1 year non imm "O" multiple entry, I got the visa based on the fact i am married to a Thai.

After reading reports on here of people doing 90 day reports in pattaya etc i am confused to whether i can simply go to immigration and report in bangkok or i need to leave the country every 90 days!

My first report has to be before july 7th so can anyone please advise me? If i need to cross a border please can u let me know which is the easiest one to go to from bangkok.

I apoligise for any ignorance on this matter but i have 2 very young children and can only get to the net cafe very rarely to reseach the matter.

Thanks in advance

If it's the first year of your non-o (which it sounds like), then you have to cross the border every 90 days. You can apply for an extension based on marriage, at which stage you will need to do 90 day reporting at the local immi.

Sounds to me like you have a standard non-o which can be issued for a multitude of reasons, just so happens that your reason was marriage. Not to be confused with an extrension based on marriage.

If you have a VISA which you will have obtained from a consulate or embassy outside Thailand you must do a border hop every 90 days.

If you have an EXTENSION which you got from immigration inside Thailand you need to report your address every 90 days, either by visiting immigration, or by post.

Dead easy eh? :o

Yes its my first visa so a standard non-o!

Which is the nearest border check to bangkok?

There are daily orgznized mini van and bus trips from Bangkok to Cambodia which take the best part of the day and cost about 2,000 baht - they advertise in the classified section of English papers and most have websites that you could find with a Google - be aware that some have recently closed as the old 30 day visa exempt entry is not as easily available for long term use as before.

The multi entry visa allows you stays of up to 90 days at a time. If you have family income of 40k per month you can visit immigration during the last 30 days of any entry, with wife and marriage/children proof, photos together and such to obtain a one year extension of stay. Cost is 1,900 baht.

The 90 day report to Immigration you see people talk about is an address report that those on one year extensions of stay must make. As you are on a 90 day stay it does not apply to you.
