Visa Extension

Featured Replies

An English guy asked me if he could get 2 week non immigrant tourist visa extension as plane flight isn scheduled two weeks after expiration date. And if possiuble what is the fee? I don't know answer but I said perhaps someoen on visa forum would know.Thank you

No he can not. The most he can obtain (without other valid reasons) would be 7 days. Cost would be 1,900 baht. If he has not used his visa exempt 90 days in the last six months he can obtain a 30 day entry with a border crossing. From Bangkok that costs about 2,000 baht. Suspect Chiang Mai would be about the same.

Send him on a border run.

Exactly what Visa has he got?

How many days permissioin to stay was he granted on his arrival?

  • 2 months later...

I searched the forum for answers to a similar question but couldn't find anything. This is the closest thread so I'll ask here.

What is the situation for someone on a Non Immigrant O visa (based on visiting friends - so not retired, no Thai spouse etc..), with regard to extending the date of their permission to stay when there's still plenty of validity on the visa?

i.e. 90 days permitted stay about to expire (and visa still valid for another few months) but return flight to the UK in say 1 to 2 weeks time.

Is there a way to extend the stay for a short time and avoid the inconvenience of a visa run? If so, how likely is it, how long can you get, what are the requirements and costs etc...

Thanks.

Edited to say I've just seen the post below on overstay but any other info is appreciated.

His only option is a hop over the border and come back again.
