I have been looking through various articles and posts on TV and noted that with regards to household possessions it states that gold and silver are prohibited. Since I will shortly be arriving in Thailand to start a new job/phase of my life, I wondered how this would affect my entry at customs with my Thai wife and her 'collection' of Thai (mostly) gold. She also has some diamond, pearl jewellery and we have two 115 gram gold bars.

Anyone had any experience with this subject when they entered the country to start afresh? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Wear it, ive seen couples ( mainly men ) coming out of the airport looking like Mr and Mrs T ,you wont have a problem,. All the 18k gold and less in Thailand is imported from italy, it gets in somehow .! :o

I agree, wear it. When I moved here my suitcases were so full (mainly of junk I didn't even need) that I had to wear mine, didn't have any problems apart from feeling a bit daft.
