How Can I Tell What's Downloading ?

Featured Replies

At lunch time today I connected to the internet on my ADSL connection. Before I started my browser I noticed the active light on the modem flashing away. I looked at the status of the modem and it was busy downloading so I left it for the next three hours, still without starting my browser.

By then it had downloaded more than three megs of data, but what? What was downloading? And more to the point how I can I find out in future what is downloading itself to my computer?

At first I thought it was my virus checker updating its database, but that doesn't take three hours and afterwards acknowledges the fact it's been updated.

There's nothing in my startup that could cause this.

Any help gratefully received

Hi, could it be Windows Update?

If not I think you better scan you pc for virus and adware.

Best regards,

There is a program amed Hook Explorer, which you can download from Thaivisa Download.

That Program shows you what you looking for: all activities, up- and downloads, pgm connection and so on on your computer.

Cheers.

Another is SysInternals TCPView

I assume you're using Windows. XP?

Scan for viruses, malware, adware etc if you haven't already. Keep def files up to date. Apply all security updates etc.
