zaphodbeeblebrox
Steak in NZ is expensive because it is the best and is sold to the big restaurant chains in the US.They prefer decent steak to local stuff. About 16% of beef in the U.S. is imported, from Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and Argentina. The reason for importing beef is not the quality, but that there is a shortage of very lean beef in the U.S. Simply a supply-demand issue. McDonalds is one of the biggest importers of New Zealand beef in the U.S., so obviously it's not a quality issue. Moreover, kiwi and Aussie beef imports have quotas, so there's a cap on how much can be imported from those countries. Sorry to burst your bubble my kiwi friend.
