had a shitzu come in to the clinic with thai kennel club registation papers; needless to say, my curiuosity got the better of me so i perused the paper while the vet checked the dog.

the baby arrived and the folks brought him in to be 'vetted' same day; poor doggy, wiped out dead tired. we checked him out, he got his second dhlpp etc vaccine as he supposedly got his first in thailand prior to shipping...

two days later, dog with runny nose and cough; one week on antibiotics (cant remember what we gave, a long lasting shot, plus pills and tolfedine for the fever)... and good quality puppy food

dog has come back twice already; he's eating, pooping, etc but coughing and snotty and slightly feverish....

its not kennel cough ;

breeder name: dan buck or buck dan... couldnt get any more info since i didnt want the owner to think i was suspecting that they got forged papers

yesterday someone else must of told him as he brought krembo (a fluffy marshmallow chocolate candy, the dog's name) back again.. and said people have told him that these asian and eastern european shipped pups often die (true, they come from puppy mills and bad conditions, their ages are lied about etc, but in this case th age matched the pup's teeth, although the pup was a little small for his age other then that, he is gaining well... )

anyone recognize the name of the breeder??? the name was listed with an address in bangkok but i couldnt write down the info (patient privacy and our vets dont interfere with this scenerio)

he's a cute little brown and white shitzu, and the people are clueless about dog care, but they and the daughters are doing what ever we suggest and have really latched on to this little thing, it kills me this shipping of pups.

all the rage now in israel: pugs, shitzus and pekinese, mini maltese, yorkies etc imported from thailand and eastern europe.... and lots of horror stories about the pups when they arrive: distemper, parvo etc... not to mention bad genes, malformations, and bad tempered animals....

also, i'm searching for a lhasa apso --in israel there are only 35!! registered, some others from eastern europe (like my foofoo, w/o papers, from russia); we are looking for one. based on the above story however, i will wait patiently for a litter born to a breeder which homes his dogs, not puppy mill, and keeps a watch on their blood lines to prevent inbreeding... among the 35 here.... or if someone private, not a breeder'/exporter, in thailand ,has one they dont want (a female), but not shitzu or shitzu look alikes please....:o))we would be interested.

i dont want to import, i want to find out if this shitzu baby is one of the puppy mill ones; read my post carefully, maybe my grammar went askew....

a puppy came in to the vets thru an importer; yes all the rage now; the baby shitzu is now sick just after landing a week ago... he came with a zillion papers certifying shots, parents and breeder.. just wondering if it is all fake including the supposed age of the pup...the breeder was listed as dan buck or buck dan cant remember now.... from bangkok...

as for lhasas, there are two breeders and 35 lhasa apsos registered here in the entire country; all the others are eastern europe puppy mill types also...sorry , now i understood your question elfe.... no, there are two breeders in the country but all stock are practically frmo the same bloodlines... others are imports from questionable sources with potential health problems, so was asking if anyone on the board had a lhasa, i dont want from a breeder/shipper... we are willing to pay for adopting an adult female will pay for shipment (thats up to a certain amount) ... that was the second question...

so, two different things in the same post... sorry
