How's Your Wetv (cable Tv)?

I live close to Tesco Hangdong and my WETV reception is terrible at the moment, especially the sports channels (13 and 14) - I get lots of white lines running horizontally across the screen...

I had an engineer out yesterday and he said that's just how it is. If that's the case I'll just cancel, since i can't wath formula 1 anymore, but it used to be just fine until a few weeks ago. What I want to know is whether everyone is having the same problem - then I can decide whether to cancel or harass them to fix it, showing them printouts from this forum!

So... how's your WETV? :o

I live in wat umong area.My WeTV signal reception is very poor as well.It was frustrating when I wanted to watch Euro 2008 matches on the SA channels. I just couldn't believe the matches aren't on True Visions. What a shame....

By the way, does anyone have any ideas if the signal would get better if I installed a signal booster and where to get one?

The movie channels and the sports channels are always fuzzy for me. When I complained Wetv sent a "technician" out to "tune" my TV. Then they changed the junction box. Then they pretended that the problem was fixed.

It wasn't that important to me so I just gave up.

Same problem but it is variable :o Today it seems alright but it has been terrible especially during the tennis which becomes a spot the ball competition. :D

Sometimes I have problems with reception but the biggest problem I have is not knowing what the hel_l the program schedules are.

There magazine is useless and the what's on their website is not much better. Channel 9 movies never start at the time they list, there is no schedule with the names of the movies that play at channel 17, nothing about what's on with the sports channels and the programs for the Real TV channel 19 don't match up with the ones in the pdf download from the UK.

Has anyone found a secret source somewhere that provides an accurate schedule of what is going to be on? If I knew what was playing I could put up with the rest of everything else, considering the price as compared to UBC and the problems I had with them.

I got it at first as it had Disney for the kids, then that just stopped, they tell me that Cartoon Network has also stopped now. Notice getting more French and Japanese movies now as well on the movie channels. Reception on 17 tends to fuzz in and out but is watchable.

I really don't care about what is on. If there is something on then fine, if not I throw on a DVD movie or TV series. I only ever turn on the TV when I go to bed, so this combination still works. As for the kids they now have some kids series as well.

I think that it is just in Chiang Mai and cable is only in certain areas. I'm guessing that if one has cable - which I do - it is much more reliable. The movie channels are quite good and you get BBC and CNN and a bunch of junk. I watch a lot of DVDs so all together I have plenty of stuff to keep me from being bored.

A flyer was just passed out in Land & Houses Mae Jo for WETV cable saying it was a special offer (of course! :o ) for L&H. They had been stringing cable for a couple of weeks now. So...even though I have not contacted them I would surmise they have extended cable service north at least to within 3 km of Mae Jo. The flyer had a price of 700 baht/month for basic service.

I think you will find the promotion was 700baht for 3 months subscription and then 350 every month after that.

We had it installed earlier in the year for that price.

Also I heard the only reason they put the cable all the way out to L&H Maejo was because one of the WeTV bosses lives there.

No picture display type interference on my WETV service - just north of Superhighway - but it has gone dead a couple of times late at night (maybe maintenance?).

I watch mainly the news and movie channels. Movies on "Stream" always seem dark and murky - and I don't mean the subject matter - but the others are fine. WETV's CNN feed seems to come from South Africa (judging by the commercials) and is prone to losing signal and getting out of sync. Occasionally, they replace it with some Spanish channel and recently even with what looks to be a Ghanaian or Nigerian channel.

Based on limited experience with UK terrestrial aerial reception, a signal booster might help. The electronic components store in the Carrefour carpark might have them.

They dropped Disney?! Uh Oh!

I have noticed that there seems to be an increase in what are called "soft porn" movies. Not even "B" movies; more "C." The little I have seen is harmless stuff, really, even compared to the average bump-and-grind dance routines one sees on Thai commercial channels. One can get a greater rush watching some of the sexier weather girls on BBC.

Really want to complain? Check out the violence.

You are right. I didn't read it carefully. It say pay 700 baht and get the first 3 months free and elsewhere says 60 channels 350 baht/month.
