I have an old Sony camcorder model DCR-TRV17. It uses MiniDv videotapes. Problem is I can't find any working drivers for it for XP or Vista- my camera when it was released was for Windows ME- lol. I have tried downloading the driver for Xp and installing it on my old laptop with Xp and it doesn't work. According to Sony website the driver for Vista comes preinstalled (never heard of that!) but of course my laptop with Vista does not recognize the camera. I am fairly certain I can take my old videotapes down to Panthip and have them put onto dics - but that's not the point - the point is I can't do this myself. Should I a buy a new video camera with a hard drive or :o buy a Mac or c) both.

Thanks

May you try to set the driver to compatibly mode Windows 2000. To do that, right click on the driver before installing, click on Properties and than Compatibly Mode.

May that helps.

Cheers.
