Kl For Non Immigrant "o"

Featured Replies

Hi,

Off to KL next week for non "o" based on marriage, would appreciate some help with KL.

Any recommendations for good cheap accommodation, eateries, and how to get to/from the airport and to the embassy, "must sees" etc would be greatly appreciated.

I will post details about success of the visa application when I return.

Thanks

Accomodation, plenty of decent low-cost places around Petaling Street / Chinatown, Mr Google is your friend, I like the Swiss Inn :o

The embassy is a short walk from Ampang Park LRT station. Get there at about 9AM to be early in the queue, they let you in to sit in the shade and fill out your forms before the doors open. Make sure you have photos, you can't get a queue number until you have one (there is a booth inside the embassy). Pick up is next morning at about 11AM.

Getting to/from the airport, if you are alone then the Airport Rail Link is good and quick. For two or more travellers a taxi is about the same cost (and takes you to your hotel direct).

If you fly by one of the Low Cost Carriers you end up in the LCC Terminal which is a shed on the far side of the airport from the trains, there is a shuttle bus (not sure if it's free).

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

I got one there last week . Multi entry .

1 Passport photo . ( within last 3 months )

Copy of marriage certificate .

Copy of Tabien Bahn .

Copy Of wife's ID card .

Thai Bank account statement .

Letter from employer stating current wages .

I also took the wife and was asked at the counter if she was my wife , don't know if it helped , but it certainly didn't do any harm .

The last one I did in Singapore took way longer to wait in line than KL .

We had no reservations ( as I didn't want my credit card details going out over the net from an internet cafe )

Managed to get a room in the prince hotel which is an easy walk down to the twin towers etc.

390 ringgit / night , breakfast not included .

I would say 4-5 star hotel . cost for cab to embassy was 4 ringgit , cost back to hotel was 10 ringgit .

Made the mistake of booking a 6pm flight back to Thailand through air asia , and arrived from the embassy to the airport at 12:30 pm .

LCC terminal is a dump , with nothing to do there .

Anyway , I have made the mistake once . Never again . :o
