Hi

All 4 of us are from the United States and are in Phuket

Our two kids ages 5 and 9 attend a school , they have Education Visa for one year multiple entry

My wife and I have also one year multiple entry visas Catogory O Non-Immigrant which were received because our kids attend school. We got the one year visa in the US.

Questions:

1) Our stamp is June 30, so we need to run to the border but we will be going to Indonesia on July 8 for a 3 week holiday. Do we need to get an extension before June 30 for those 8 days or can be just leave out of country and get stamped when we return? if we need an extension--how much does it cost per passport and how long is it good for?

2) To avoid Visa runs in the future I was told we can show proof of 500,000 Baht per person. So if my wife and I it would be 1millon total which we dont' have but could get the 500,000 in our joint thai checking account temporarily. Could my wife go with one of the kids passports and show proof of the 500,000 and get a 90 day stamp and then I go the next day with my other childs passport and mine? any ideas?

thanks in advance

1. Yes. The longest extension you could obtain in country with a ticket out during that time would be 7 days. You need to cross a border before the 30th and return for a new 90 day stay.

2. Nobody is going to get a 90 day stamp with 500k. As I told you before you need the 500k in a bank account to obtain a one year extension of stay from Immigration - this requires interviews and paperwork. For two of you that would be 1 million baht. They are not likely to accept account shuffle and in fact we have had reports of extreme displeasure from others who have attempt this method, even having the million baht, do don't expect there will be much leeway.
