Hi guys,

I'm sure this is a repeated topic, I've scrolled through a few pages and i can't find any topic talking about it. So I decided to start one.

I am unable to send any sms to my friend in Bangkok. I do know that one of the service providers in Thailand doesn't allow international SMS to reach the users. But I've checked and apparently the service provider my friend is using is international sms friendly. I tried removing the number 0, i've put the 0 back on... but i keep getting the message "unable to send". Of course, I also included the area code +66

I am using Singtel (Singapore). Anyone has this problem when sending international SMSes?

The strange thing is that I can send SMS to my other friends in BKK.

Sounds like Singtel is not letting you send them. And you sound confused as to the number, so here is how it works

Let's say your friend's number is 087 1234 5678 - then the number you have to send to is +66 87 1234 5678. So, no zero!

If it doesn't work with the correct number, call your Singtel customer service and ask what's going on. Maybe international SMS is disabled on your acct or something.

I’m glad someone mentioned this. I’ve experienced the same problem from the Middle East for the past week

The Thai number is correct, phone calls to the same number go through but sms’s fail. It tries to send and after a few minutes I get an error message telling me sending has failed. I receive sms’s and phone calls from Thailand without problem.

I can send sms’s to other countries without problem. I’d already sent sms’s to Thailand without problem earlier in the day my Thai sms problem started.

I’ve got no idea what’s causing it.

Most service providers do not allow international calling or outbound SMSes without prior approval/registration.

SMSes are "best effort" delivery, so no guarantees.

Are you being charged for the SMSes? Have you checked with Singtel? How do you know the recipient is not receiving the SMSes? Who is their service provider? Maybe their SIM has been discarded or lost. Can you call this person?

SMS' in most cases only work using direct international link {bet someone posts that they've been able to use 00x etc. :o so number should be +66 8 1234 5678, not 00766 8 1234 5678.

Also if you're using prepaid you may need to get the international link opened, and in some cases SMS' are not automatically actioned. One option is to check balance, send SMS, then check balance again. f you're balance has decreased shout politely at SingTel.

Regards
