I've got a problem since 2 days.

From outside Thailand, Remote Desktop Connexion to a PC in Bangkok (with True ADSL), doesn't work anymore.

I use the system No-ip.com, that periodically updates the IP address of the thai PC (so I always know the current IP address for RDC).

Hopefuly I always have a plan B : Logmein.com .... :o

So I went with Logmein, to connect remotely to the PC in BKK, in order to see what could be the problem.

Here is the problem :

-No-ip "sees" a wrong IP address : for instance 57.xx.xx.xx

-So I went to the site whatismyipaddress.com to check. It "sees" a proxy server with a certain IP address (203.xx.xx.xx) plus a "proxy reports IP address" different (203.zz.zz.zz) !

-the site ww.auditmypc.com, "sees" the same, but explains it differently : "Your current IP address is 203.xx.xx.xx and was forwarded for 203.zz.zz.zz"

In both case, the last IP (203.zz.zz.zz) is the good one, that allows RDC to connect.

I know that True is constantly doing stuff with the gear, like a child's finger into the honey pot. They change, modify, try... it's intolerable. I become totally paranoid.

Do you have any idea to explain this latest change ?

1.: Did you run that small program DUC at the Thai Computer?

2.: What Modem/Router you use at the Thai Computer, is it a Modem/Router delivered by TRUE?

3.: Is NAT enabled and port forwarding correct in the Thai system?\

Cheers.

1.: Did you run that small program DUC at the Thai Computer?

It shows an old IP address (form 57.xx.xx.xx). And on the website of No-ip I got now the IP of the "proxy server" (203.xx.xx.xx, the one given by whatismyipaddress.com )

2.: What Modem/Router you use at the Thai Computer, is it a Modem/Router delivered by TRUE?

Yes. It didn't change.

3.: Is NAT enabled and port forwarding correct in the Thai system?\

Yes. Because with the good IP address (the one "reported" by the "proxy server") RDC is working fine.

Thanks.

Looks like your problem is the Modem/Router!

If that Modem is from TRUE, they modify the Firmware which isn't to be roll back anymore. On that way they be sure that from that connection only one computer could be able to be connected to the internet at same time.

The only workaround I know is to change the Modem/Router to an NON-TRUE one and reprogram to your use.

I use No-Ip for many years on TRUE connection without any problem. I'm also remotely connected to several of my customers which all using TRUE and even No-IP! No any problems. The only problems I had within the last year with one customer was as he changed the Modem to an TRUE Modem and I wasn't able to connect to his system for the time being he was using that Modem/Router.

Cheers.

My mistake !

It was actually a problem with DUC. I was using "alternate port"... As soon as I go back with the normal port... I receive the good IP address...

Damned. :o

Not a problem with the DUC but with your settings at No-IP! Because the alternate Port you set at No-IP.com in the management system. Here all setting must be correct.

In the DUC you set only the User name and Password and the registered Domains will show up and you have to check which you want to get to acces from that computer.
