Extention Of 60 Day Tourist Visa: When Can I Extend It?

If someone gets the 60 day TOURIST visa, and wants to get the 30 day extention from inside Thailand, can I go into the Immigration office say on the 55th day, and ask them to START the extention from the 60th day, or will they start the 30 day extention from the date I apply for it?

The extension will start when your current stay expires NOT when you apply.
