Visa Question

Featured Replies

Hi, i'm flying into bankok on the 14th and will then be travalling onto cambodia and vietnam and ultimatly flying home from hong kong, i have had trouble finding out about the tourist visa. i'm from ireland so am eligble for the 30 day visa. do i have to buy another flight out of thailand to get the visa on arrival?? can i just fly in and then walk across the boarder to cambodia or do i have to have flights in and out of thailand to get the visa.

any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks one and all!

Actually, what you recceive upon arrival is a "visa exempt" entry, not a visa. The problem some people have isn't so much with Thai immigration, but more likely with the airline letting you board without a visa or onward ticket. Most people book an inexpensive onward ticket within 30 days of arrival, or get a tourist visa.

Yep. It is the airline that is the problem.

If for some reason the are refused entry to Thailand the airline are responsible for taking you back.

Unless you have proof of onward travel. They might take enough with a visa for Cambodia or Vietnam if you already have one. Or of course a plane ticket to one of these countries. If you already have the return ticket from Hongkong the airline might accept that as proof of onwared travel. Write them an email, so you have their response on paper.
