If you are a sailor or an aviator it sure does! It's usually calmest in the mornings for flying, sailing is best later in the day!

Well if it's the kind of wind that I passed last night after dinner...it certainly changed the mood in my house. :D

:o:D:D I just knew someone would reply like this.

Was it :D and then, :D:D

I am the youngest out of you all 4sure. And you guys are so immature, yes when the winds change apparently it can change the moods of individuals , a low forecast can also give some people a missive headache. Now excuse me I have to leave the room for a while as I just at this big curry and I don’t want to piss people off.!

I think wind changes moods ? does anyone else agree :o

Barometric pressure changes have been found to change moods. Steep pressure gradients create increased wind speeds. Maybe that's the correlation?

Apparently me talking about farting (def: passing wind) has changed your mood...so I guess you were right all along.

For me when it gets really windy outside my mood changes. If I was in a good mood, it turns sour and if I was in a bad mood, it turns good.

Wow, never thought of how the wind influences my behaviour. What's next, are you gonna tell me that the moon and stars affect moods as well?

Don't forget the sun, clouds, rain, heat, cold. I bet they can affect moods as well.

So what conclusion are we to draw from your in-depth analysis?

If it's windy, don't go outside cause it may affect your mood?

I like it when its windy. Always a good mood, its cooler, my hair blows around, less people, and if I pass wind it goes away quickly no fuss :o

Many years ago I was told that people are more often in a bad mood during high gusty winds as the effect on the ear drum and inner ear were similar to be knocked about the head or being punched. I too feel less settled during these conditions unless my focus is elsewhere - such as sailing or windsurfing - in which case you are looking for the gust.

Maybe a little wind is nice in Thailand when its hot, but over here in the Netherlands, when it gets stormy and blustry outside, I get grumpy and irritable. Especially if I am outside and get strong gusts (usually accompanied by rain) from every direction. Also have a slight headache when the low pressure zone passes by.

Maddening wind, it does exist... :o

no- i don't mind wind too much in thailand, but in the US i grew up in a valley surrounded by high mountains and it would get ridiculously windy there. i would have a really hard time walking to work. also, it makes things 10 times colder in the winter.

The moon is known to affect moods, that is why mad people used to be called lunatics (luna = moon). Like ebb and flo, I guess the changes in gravity from the moon's cycles can influence us, since we are made up of a high percentage of water. Also animals are affected, some houling towards the full moon.

As for winds, some seasonal winds are said to influence moods to the point of making some unstable souls temporarily insane, like the winds coming up into the Alps from Northern Africa, full of yellow dust.

So it is written, and so it shall be.

I noticed that when it starting raining outside an hour ago, the wind picked up. What I don't know is whether it was the rain or wind that caused the dogs to start howling at the moon?

Perhaps it was a the wind that caused someone to start such a meaningless topic. Next thing you know, some Government official will blame the wind for all the ills aflicting the country. Not inflation, not rising oil prices, not corruption, not drugs, blame it on the wind. Someone has been watching too many Mark Walberg movies lately me things.

As far as unstable souls go, they wouldn't be related to those who thought the earth was flat and the sun revolved around it?

Ignorance is bliss as long as you don't look up the meaning in a dictionary.

This discussion reminds of Raymond Chandler's story Red Wind:

There was a desert wind blowing that night. It was one of those hot dry Santa Anas that come down through the mountain passes and curl your hair and make your nerves jump and your skin itch. On nights like that every booze party ends in a fight. Meek little wives feel the edge of the carving knife and study their husbands' necks. Anything can happen. You can even get a full glass of beer at a cocktail lounge.

Many areas of a high relative percentage of sucide and/or depression are also areas of high daily average wind velocity. The term 'cabin fever' was often referred to during the winter months but the local oldtimers blamed it on the wind, not being confined to a enclosed space.

Does Japan fall under this "area"?

Perhaps the wind is causing some of death from high rise buildings in Pattaya and Bangkok.

One rule I have is don't BBQ inside a closed vehicle or small room, wind or no wind.

I have no hair. I would kill for a bad hair day.

I always thought "cabin fever" had another meaning...

Here the wind is welcomed. It takes away the humidity and blows away the pollution and stink.

Back home in winter it becomes deadly. Whiteouts and windchill. When its windchill -20c, it freakin hurts to be outside.

bkk; Japan is in the top 10 countries of the world for suicide rate. In my google search I did notice Iraq was not on the list, guess they figured the numbers may be monipulated in some way. The oldtimers I referred to came from Wyoming, Montana and that area. Daily wind average velocity in some areas is in the 50+mph range. How they came up with their pool hall ideas, 40 years ago, I do not know, but it is born out by the State ranking from Utah across thru these states with the latest info avaliable.

I guess for Iraq Google doesn't include suicide bombers because they do it 'only to harm others' and therfore technically is not a suicide, or it is one with an * beside it. :o

Regarding the data concerning UTAH and other surrounding states, I would suggest the suicide rate has more to do with their Mormons (oops I mean Morals) than the wind itself. So easy to blame the wind for all things bad but in fact the winds of change can also bring good things too.

Take Bangkok for example - it's a fact that in a certain lounge / bar on Sukhumvit Soi 8, girls have been know to make men yell out "There she blows" and other windy type references. Rumor has it the same exclamations can be heard coming from the bowels of a similar establishment on Patpong Soi 2.

So in conclusion, what I can say is that if the wind makes you feel like commiting kamikaze on one self, perhaps wait a minute and that idea will 'blow' over. IF it doesn't and you still feel like going for it, I suggest to get on your balcony and try to fly - if you can then the winds are in your favor, if not and you plummit to the ground like the Thai stock market, don't blame it on the wind, blame it on the lack of it.

wind is essentially air pressure, resonance, temperature as well as transfer on negative/positively charged particles....so of course it has a factor on human reaction.
