Veazer
Having a weird issue with an external drive. I cannot access the drive (Z:) using explorer but i can access the drive through the command line. A breakdown of the weirdness: the drive letter is not blocked using TweakUI, etc changing the drive letter has no effect there is not an autorun.inf on the drive putting the drive in a different external case has no effect the drive appears to be functioning fine, fast speeds - no clicks, no weird noises Sometimes the drive eventually shows up after 10-15 minutes, sometimes not if i type "explorer.exe z:", then the contents *do* show up in explorer but the address bar is totally blank. Safe device removal properly identifies the drive and letter I'm totally stumped.
A_Traveller
There's been some report of connexions having problems where the SCSI/IDE driver has been commissioned, especially the takes for ever to be recognised. How are you connecting the drive e-sata, usb ? Regards

Veazer
Cable select or slave?Regards Master, it's been set that way for years. I only trust CS for 'smarter' controllers like modern IDE chips on mobos. Why would i set a single device to slave, just curious?
Veazer
Solved! Though changing the drive letter had no effect, removing all driver letter assignments and then re-assigning a letter worked. Pops up every time as soon as it's inserted now. The magic of Microsoft Windows and all its little quirks.
