I would not take any of my friends there unless they really wanted to see the night life. Because everything else is crap. walking down the street is depressing, I felt like spin kicking random people just to cure the bordem a bit

I would shoot myself,but that requires an effort......A blonde suspects her boyfriend of cheating on her. She goes out and buys a gun. She goes to his apartment unexpectedly and sure enough, she opens the door and finds him in the arms of a redhead. Well, now she's angry! To all who want to "improve" Pattaya, please get lost. Why don't you spend your time in a nice "up market" resort town like Hua Hin. I spent the worst 3 days ever there, once, before greatfully returning to Pattaya. Do you not realise that Hua Hin is basically an "improved" Pattaya, and why any sane person would want that is beyond me.

If the price of keeping Pattaya cheap and cheerful is a crappy walkway, and smelly beaches, it's OK by me.

Thailand is not a tiny country. There is one Pattaya. It is gentrified enough. More cheap sleazy dives, please. I am starting to worry that we are all going to have to learn Russian though ...

When I think of Pattaya, I cannot but help think of Obi Wan's description of Mos Eisley spaceport..."you will not find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy".

But keep in mind that scum and villainy do have their charm.
