Has anyone a link to or have information on the process? No one seems to do it around here, all I see being bought are the mats or cup rubber.

Hi

Yes not to many small plantations bother with smoking, but it does speed up the drying. Mostly they just put up a tin shed, knock a hole in one side and make a earthware furnace not unlike how they make charcoal. The smoke keeps the humidity down and cures the pancakes to prevent fungal growth etc. It also allows you to keep the rubber longer if the price is low. JIM
