In the late seventies in Europe, a number of people, most of them from universities, were not very happy with the political situation. They didn't really trust democracy and election (actually they didn't have much success) and believe in more "radical" action They started some groups that later made headlines in the newspaper for their violent action. The names of these groups were "Rote Armee Fraktion", "Brigade Rosse", "Action Directe" ... Most of the members of these groups died or are dying in jail. Unfortunately, they killed a number of people before being caught.

Unfortunately, I've the feeling that history is repeating itself. The PAD, failing to obtain the success it expected in Bangkok, is now sending armed groups to the Cambodian border. Should this action failed (and it will), how long will it take for these groups to come back to Bangkok and what's going to happen? How long are we going to wait before we realize PAD people are dangerous and should be stopped before they start killing. Because they will. The way it goes, with the armed groups sent to the border, maybe a more appropriate model should be IRA or ETA, with a political wing trying to justify the exactions of their criminal brothers.

Security and intelligence officials have warned that a new round of disturbances might erupt in the form of arson attacks at government installations, Army chief General Anupong Paochinda said on Thursday.

Anupong said the assessment was made at the Wednesday's meeting of a panel in charge of monitoring the volatile situation.
