Scalawag
I know NBC has the contract for the Olympic game coverage and UBC will not be able to provide live coverage because of that contract. UBC does have a channel originating from CNBC. I thought I read somewhere that live coverage could be over CNBC but that is counter to what UBC told me. Does anyone out there know for sure? UBC is often screwed up so I don't believe much of what they propagate........

lomatopo
Hallo, here is the schedule for Tuesday (as said above all times in BST):Tuesday 12 August Please tell us what these schedules are, and what BST is? And what does this have to do with TV coverage, which is sort of the topic of this thread. It looks like you are posting the entire scheduled events for a particular day? In some time zone? You say the U.S.A. v. Angola Men's Basketball is scheduled for 13:00 - 14:45 when in actual fact it started at 20:00 Beijing time or 19:00 Bangkok time. The usefulness being what exactly? I mean just about anyone can just go to the official website and get a accurate and comprehensive view of a day's events. http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/Sche...008-08-12.shtml
steelepulse
Yeah the poster of the schedule, though with the right intention, isn't doing any of us any favors as this is what is not shown in Thailand. Funny a friend told me today that Michael Phelps was swimming at 9:30, so I turned on the olympics to see some crap badminton match and a nice mothers day ceremony, but certainly not the most watched event at the olympics during that particular time. As far as all the events listed by the poster, we really don't get any of them here. dam_n, wish I had my Astro TV like I did in 2004 which had 3 dedicated olympics sports channels running 24 hours a day. All I can say is there is crap coverage in Thailand and that you are better off finding the live streams from various websites.

They (Astro) have 10 active channels and 1 overwiew channel (pictured below) this time, by far the best coverage in Asia this time around .. lomatopo
Yes, the Astro coverage (from Malayasia) is impressive. The Big Mango Bar on Sukhumvit Soi 4 has this service, all channels. All commentary is in English. The satellite band is impacted by weather, unlike that used by SuperSport (ZA).

lomatopo
All commentary is in English. From TVNZ no less, did you note the kiwi accent I think it is sport-dependent? Or maybe they choose the best available at the time? Or designate English-speaking announcers per event? For the USA hoops games they have American announcers. I confess I haven't watched that much Astro coverage.

I have it on here 24/7 - there is a press release from Astro and TVNZ if you want to google it, saying how TVNZ is providing Astro and many other networks the content for the games.
