Reporting With Retirement Visa

Featured Replies

Hi, Looked but can't find.

I am from the UK and aged 52 and living in Samui. I got myself a single entry non imm O visa in Penang issue date 26/11/07.

I entered Thailand 01/12/07 and changed to a Retirement Visa on 18/12/07.

The retirement stamp tells me my application of stay is permitted until 28/02/09.

This date is 0ne year after the 'admitted until' date (28/02/08) on the latest entry stamp they gave me at Sadao on 01/12/07.

My question being, when do I need to report?

I was under the impression that reporting was not necessary but have since been told otherwise. Can some one please put me out of my misery as now I am a bit worried about going down the Imm office and getting hit for overstay or worse banged up in the Samui Hilton!!

Cheers, Pete.....

You are talking about 90 day address reporting? That is done 90 days after your first application for extension of stay. As you did this very early (most offices would not have accepted it) expect they will expect you 90 days after 18/12/07 so you are very much overdue. The best you could hope is that they start the count on 28/02/08 but you would still be well over the 90 days. Currently normal fine is only 2,000 baht if you report late but could be up to 5,000 baht plus 200 baht per day.

If you are talking about your next one year extension of stay it should take place during the last 30 days of your current permitted to stay (28/02/09) so sometime in February next year.

Yep.

Dress smart and head off to Samui Immigration.

Smile a lot say sorry a lot and take your wallet.

You are very late reporting.

Well I came out 'smellin of roses'. I dont know what happened, I didnt stay around to find out but I was in & out in 5 minutes and It didnt cost me a penny. I filled in the form and was absolutely 'crappin' it as I waited because on the wall was a big sign with all the fines laid out in black and white. 500 bht a day overstay with a 20,000 bht maximum. Minimum/maximum fine for 90 day reporting 2000/5000 bht. I was expecting the maximum for sure. She came out 5 mins later, handed me my passport and said see you in 3 months. I could of kissed her! but I didnt I just legged it. I'm just of to buy a lottery ticket & see if my luck is still holding. Yipee!!

Cheers, Pete.........

Could he Try ...

Go on a trip to KL or Singapore

and start your 90 day reporting from the date of your return.

Just hope nobody notices.

You need a re-entry Permit.

Bill

Edit - Didnt see your "what happened" report

guess I took tooo long typing my suggestion (with one finger)

Anyway glad you made it free of charge!
