Ups - Switch Off Or Unplug

Featured Replies

:D

Would I save electricity if I unplug the UPS instead of just switching it off at night?

:o

Sure, but not much. Once it is charged and no external loads turned on the current draw is small.

Yes That’s what I thought. It’s just that our electric bill has increased by about 500bt month and trying to pin down the cause.

No, there is no one tapping into my supply. I can see our meter and the cable all the way to the house.

I have been leaving the computer on overnight a few times to download and wonder whether that could cause the price increase. I turn the monitor off so all that is running is the computer itself and ADSL modem.

Testing this month by switching the computer of every night see if that get my 500bt back.

If you unplug the UPS it will run till the battery dies.

I would switch it off & then unplug.

And don't forget that if you have a power failure and run down the batteries they will take some time to re-charge (and they can't if it's unplugged).

Leave it plugged in.
