Not really, I see hatred towards the Thai's alot though

Yes, that is right, middle and upper class Thais are racists, NOT ALL, of course, but it was one of those things that I saw and felt when I was the first time in Thailand(Chiang Mai), now 4 years ago.As far as community goes, we can learn from each other, if open minded, but politics are evoluating in more Nationalistic direction worldwide, that is something to be afraid of...

I think he meant westeners not thais!

But I am much more appreciative now that I am a US citizen with access to it's social services, colleges and beautiful clean parks.

The US has no social services and it's educational system is a joke. I know this because I read ThaiVisa and talk to Europoeans regularly. Maybe America has a clean park or two. You can't be from San Francisco, you must be a Republican glued to Fox News.

A fluffy liberal who is so enlightened and watches CNN and the BBC, please write more posts for us people who dont know better then to watch Fox News, which of all the global news stations is most open to debate despite being from a centre right stand point.

Almost every problem in the world today derives from the fact that the Democrats have lost the bulk of the national elections in the US over the past 25-30 years and still there are people defending Fox News. Incredible.

You overstate Americas importance, most conflicts around the world have nothing to do with America, 9/11 was planned under the Democrats, and the US was being attacked for years by these people under Clinton. Corruption throughout Asia and Africa and S America is not the USA's making these regions managed this all on their own.

But i can see why you like Thailand with its totalitarian govts & past, military coups, and lack are free press and internet.

I know little of American politics but maybe the Democrats need to change to attract the electorate as opposed to the electorate being branded stupid/racist/right wing or whatever comments socialists/commies use to brand people for not voting to pay more taxes and having less control of their life.

i have learned to appreciate the west more since living here :o

Ditto for me--though 'grass' and 'greeener' spring to mind-in my case, anyway.

Why has this devolved into a debate about the U.S.? I can see enough of this shit on other internet sites, and don't need to see it here.

<deleted> what the Americans have done or not done. There is no reason to have any animosity towards the West (or anybody else) if you are content with your life in Thailand.

If you are not content with Thailand the you might as well <deleted> off to somewhere else anyway.

Some good answers here. I agree that "hatred toward our native country" is too harsh. Almost all of us came here, choosing this country over our previous homes. No place is perfectly good or bad. Thailand has its faults, as do all our home countries.

You can hate a government and still love a country and its people.

US educational system is a joke?

Up to the high school level may be, but beyond that - the US education system and its universities are still among the best in the world. Stop listening to those american haters where most of them have neither direct knowledge nor experiences themselves in the american educational system.

Maybe America has a clean park or two.

make that.....at least one or two dozen, in just one state alone

I would hate to think that you really believe this. If people want to watch whatever Fox 'News' then that is fair enough, but I'm sorry this type of comment is just a joke. 'Most open to debate' - my arse. All News programs have a bias, but I think Fox just appeals to the lowest common denominator and can't be viewed as a serious venue to become informed about world affairs. Of course some people are not really concerned about any attempt at fairness and for them Fox is probably ideal. I would class Fox as a celebration of ignorance, but good luck to you. I see Fox as being very similar to 'The Sun' in England - you would never admit to reading it in front of somebody with half a brain in case they judged you a moron.

I think hatred is a little strong, apathetic kind of sums it up for me.

Furthermore my hatred of the European Union weakens when im in LOS, its a fascist regime and is intent on creating a communist super state and no electorate will stop it, Sarkozy who is a fool and the nicest thing i could wish him is an early death will make sure of this.

I'm glad someone studied politics at school :o:D

:D So now the U.S.-bashing thread has turned into a Fox-bashing thread. Can't the anti-U.S. & liberal posters stay on topic?

You remind me of the "Help! I've fallen and I can't get up," geriatric commercials. Only in your case is, "Help! I've got a one-track mind, and I can't help turning every thread into my pet peeve..." Get a life. :o

No. It's more like an embarrassment to me.

BTW regardless of Fox News' political stance, one would hardly know that a world actually exists beyond the US border judging by their typical content IMO.

When my sister flew from Florida to Italy last year, she was amazed at CNN World News, and at BBC World News. She is no viewer of Fox News, but she quickly realized that American TV news is very, very nationalistic and broadcasts very little world news. C'mon now - unless i am also off topic - how much world news is on Thai TV?

We studied world history in high school; it was maybe required for college prep students. We knew there was Europe and Japan and Korea (fresh with millions of war deaths). But every nation I have been familiar with teaches its citizens to love the nation-state so much that you must kill for it. Did we suddenly become enlightened after moving to a famously xenophobic country? Did Thailand give us a crash course in self-loathing?

Although I care less about your statements.. I must direct you to the internet for "proof".. The US education system is / was ranked 27th in the world last year..

The Sky is falling, the housing market is flucked and the country has never been in such poor shape financially since the 1930's..

Other than that.. Its war as per usual..

You reap what you sow unfortunately.. so now turn your frustrations towards your government as we are just bystanders looking on.

Fox is by far the most entertaining news station and I find that by also watching some liberal-biased news on the BBC and reading newspapers from around the world on-line one can get a pretty balanced point of view and actually enjoy staying informed.

Only thickoes have one source of news these days and the BBC is as bad as Fox! :o

After reading a sentence today on thaivisa it made me think that many farangs who live in thailand have delevoped a hatred towards the west.

I must admit i hate the weather in my home country but i wouldnt go as far as saying i hate the west (western style life) just yet anyway.

Does anyone here feel hatred?

Not hatred, but sure, there are plenty of things in "the west" that are really fuc_ked up, weather, peoples attitudes etc

Being ranked 27th in the world is not that bad, considering there are thousands universities out there around the world.

I think most america bashing come from those people who still confuse between…

the america as the government and its foreign policy - VS - its country's citizens, which are the real everyday american themselves.

So it’s pointless discussion for me to continue participating at this point.
