Whats the score with these volunteer Farang Plod?

Are they just jumped up no marks who want to feel important or are they actually experienced former coppers who are providing a decent service to tourists?

All I can seem to find on them is that they are the former rather than the latter and I'd appreciate any feedback on them.

I believe, from reading the many posts already written on the subject that the majority of right thinking folk is that they are a species of rather rotten, nasty and stupid pond life! And I agree!

And furthermore...has it been established if they have work permits?

I have asked about the work permits and was told they get special dispensation from the dept for work in Chonburi although some of them already have work permits for the jobs they do in the daytime

They may also get special dispensation from the real police for any illegal activity's (not that I think they would participate in any themselves of course)

Thanks Tufty, not too much pisses me off these days but the sight of these <deleted> just sends me over the edge. Enough of these types back in the UK and I dare say many other places around the world. I do have respect for the real MIB, but these farang fools...No <deleted> need for them here at all.

They don't bother me at all BUT,

The ones who wear all black with their "bat belts" holding their mobile phone and radio, Walk around acting like they are highly important and like they are the authority of the street. :o:D

Not impressed I'm afraid.

Interesting thoughts about the former police thing. As some may know already, I was a TPV. I am also an ex police officer from the UK with experience in various areas of police work, some useful to the local police. So, I decided to offer some of my experience to the TP and also to help out where I could with tourists and expats who maybe fall foul of the law without realising. And help to put those away, who should be, if I was allowed to.

I only managed to last a couple of months and then I left. I won't pass comment about individuals however none of them have done any real police work as far as I am aware. My comments to a certain TPV was that these volunteers should have some sort of police background and preferably a full time background within civillian or military police. The comment back was that that was a disadvantage. Don't understand why? Sorry

Many of them indirectly work for Easy Snacks, rewarded via a commission-based compensation package.

Their task is to visit established businesses in the Pattaya area that already serve food.

They come in as a threesome and explain that the proprietor must sign up with them, if they know what is good for them. :D

Confirm or deny, Howard, or have they not yet cut you in? :o

If you do not know about this, you are therefore either a liar or a fool.

Ask your 'Boss'. :D

Pigs is pigs and make believe pigs much worse.

dr_Pat_Pong you are an idiot. Just try to live in this world without any Police or any kind of law enforcement. You are obviously someone who has been caught doing something you should have and don't like that fact.

We are not talking about a world without police.

Thailand has a police force of its own.

There is no need for foreign hangers on!!

Great. I can't wait to see them arrest themselves.

That's the problem here: "been caught doing something you should have". :o

No wonder nobody, especially not the Thais, likes these brown boys. So why should we like their farang copies?

OK I am an idiot but around you I appear to be a genius. I believe in police. Real police not overgrown <deleted> boyscouts pretending to do good deeds, rather than the perceived self aggrandisement that seems to the prime consideration.

Sure we need REAL police and I much prefer the MIB to the UK men in navy blue... when I get stopped here for speeding or some other driving matter it s great to pay the 'fine' on the spot rather than all that points system crap.

Yeah the Thai police are the best!

I am sure even the bar owners here accept the 'drops' as just another tax and I see no problems with them at all.

It's worth noting the real police here do not use the farang scum, only the second rated tourist police. Tossers!

Dr, let me remind you. You said "Pigs is pigs" That leads me to think all police officers are pigs in your book. Is that right? If not, then why make a statement like that?

Harry, that has nothing to do with the police officers. That is a government thing. Governments make laws, police officers enforce them.

WCR, well yes you are right BUT this discussion we are talking about the 'attitude' of the policeman and what makes someone to become a policeman and their reason to do so. Personally, its one of a whole bunch of jobs I would NEVER take like being a prison warden, soldier or any other type of law enforcer.

Here we are talking about a farang living in Pattaya and becoming a TPV...weather they were a real cop once or not......anyway maybe it’s a fetish thing!
