I'll Paperclip mine into my passport, as they have mutilated my passport with their staples so that it looks like it was hit by a shotgun. No respect!!!

Where do they store this 'mountain' of useless paperwork?? In complying with this latest 'surprise' compilation of papers , I've added more to it and how many trees does all the useless, redundant paperwork consume?? I figure near an inch of papers with yearly requirements of copies and the 4x a year reporting that I still live in the same house that i bought 6+ yrs ago. Multiply that by how many expats here in CM alone and you have a bunch of paper to store. Maybe they haven't heard of computers>>>>.

sorry for the rant, but I have to go thru this for 2 non immigrants...my father and me and they get me ranting this time of year.

I strongly urge Thai Immigration to 'go green' [paperless]!!

Will I be subject to a spanking because I don't have my previous slip anymore?

Your 90 day clock for reporting restarts from your new entry date, so you are fine. The spanking is optional. :D

Is there a fee for this extra service ? :oOuch ! :D

Why don't they publish their changes [surprises] on an official website or better yet, mail these whimisical changes of policy to us...they have our 'official addresses', right?

WHY DO THAIS LIKE TO SURPRISE US??

Because you get surprised so easily and your response amuses. Like how can you expect that it will not change? And you even yell about it.

As from 1st August, CM Immigration now require the following in addition to your completed TM47:

From your passport, copies of

- Picture page

- Visa

- TM6 (departure card)

- Permit to stay up until stamp

Last receipt of address notification

As usual, all copies should be signed by you. No big deal if you don't have the copies in advance of going to CM Immigration; as most people know, there is a 2 baht per page photocopy service at the rear of the compound......... although I notice the lady who runs it doesn't smile any more with the extra business now than she did before :o.

Same list applies to mail notification - plus addressed envelope & stamp.

Anyone have first hand and current information on this? Is the extra paperwork still required?

I ask because my check-in is due and I can do the copies at home to save a bit of time/baht.

I did my check-in last week. I took copies of the papers that were indicated in the post on Thai Visa..... just in case. I got to Immigration at 9 in the morning and the place was packed. However, I guess I was the only one doing the 90 day report... I put my passport in the basket.... In just a few minutes the man called me and asked for the copies which were indicated. I was out of there in less than 30 minutes total.

As for Immigration notifying all the foreignors.... That is a joke, right?

Thanks for that, Ms Pain.

I now go to Immigration at 1pm. FAR fewer people. :o

Hmm, I shouldn't have written that - now you'll ALL be there. Coffee is on me! :D

Yep, they also let you know which pages via a sheet stuck up on the wall/glass :D

Actually quite a pleasant experience from the smiley copy girl, although granted, somewhat less stressful than come visa time :o

I've been doing the 90 day reporting "in country" for a couple of years now and never got a stamp in my passport, only get the bottom bit of the form with the next reporting date written by hand.

I was told there is a window of 7 days either side of the date and have in fact reported a couple of days late without any problem. They still only gave 90 days from the actual report date. :o

This is Krabi immigration.

:D

I believe what everyone is referring to is the same as you state. In CM they put a stamp on the back of the form and attach that to your passport, they don't actually stamp a passport page. I too have been told 7 days either side no problem.

As for service and demeanor at CM Immigration; I am going next week for my retirement visa extension for the sixth year in CM. Along with my 90 day reporting, residency forms, etc. I have been there many times and I can honestly say I have never had a complaint about them. Sure, sometimes if they are busy the long wait gets tedious. I don't know, maybe some people expect too much. As I have heard others remind before, they are a law ENFORCEMENT agency and are not there just for our convenience. In my case they still have always been courteous.

They still need the photocopies. I went today , so by all means copy them yourself to save the 4 baht. :o

You went at 4 a.m. ???

:o

I'm in a different time zone to most people here. My day goes from noon til 4am. I was up early today - 11am (I couldn't sleep).

Other than being seriously ill, I can't recall the last time I hit the sack before midnight. :D

I went to immigration at 2pm yesterday and found the service quick, efficient and friendly - as usual. Afternoons seem quieter and quicker, or so It seems. But don't tell everyone. :D

Whew....gpdjohn escaped the clutches of the law, once again..... :D

Na, not really...

I had the pleasure of taking some time out of my busy day yesterday by hanging out at the traffic police station and giving them 200Bt. The first officer wanted me to give him 400Bt., but after giving him a hard time, he lowered it to the correct amount.

Next time the wife will wear her helmet. :o

Was the extra 200 Bt for alleged documentation irregularities at the time of the offence? I couldn't be bothered to argue, despite having presented the original officer with passport, international driving licence, hire car docs, insurance... house deeds, dental records, Blockbuster membership card... etc etc.

He was just messing with me.

Never asked for any of the items you have mentioned and have nothing but praise for every officer I have encountered. Hand 'em my license, beg for forgiveness, and hand 'em my uncles business card.

It's normally the wife who will attempt to "take care" of it. I told her to stop that shit.

I have a badge myself ( yeah, so what ...big deal ) and all my Thai friends tell me to inform them that I am FBI and they will leave me alone...haven't tried that one yet. :D ( don't worry...I won't.. the business card seems to work extremely well )

Now before I come under the scrunity of others..

I PAID my ticket without fuss or muss and enjoyed having alittle fun with the Officer.

At least this last time the officers didn't bring cases of Chang through the sitting area for all of us to see on where are hard earned money was being spent. :D

Not to accuse anybody of being a cheap Charlie, but the entire photocopying process took about 30 seconds, no words exchanged, and hok baht. And right after lunch I got finished so quickly the motorcycle did not even get cool.

I have been a day late in reporting my address. No problem, no fine. But one day late on leaving the country, and I got fined.

Somehow they squeezed mine onto 2 pages so only 4 baht. Took about 10 seconds. I waited about 5 minutes to get my passport back.

I was about 5 days over the 90, so I was armed with a well-thought-out excuse. Annoyingly, no-one batted an eyelid and they returned my passport with a smile?

The time I spent mentally rehearsing my brilliant and original excuse and no-one wanted to hear it!! :o

I got in and out of there so fast today that I almost wonder if it really happened.

I had all my signed copies and the other two stacked in a rational order, handed them all to the guy at the same time and, by my watch, four minutes from the time I stepped out of my car til I climbed back in to head home.

Now THAT is service!

Exactly. It surely beats half a day at Swan Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, in Bangkok.

This is Krabi immigration.

:D

Every experience changes.

1. They can do whatever they want.

2. They gave me 15 months once on my 12 month (1 year visa).

3. They never stamp my passport on 90 day reporting.

4. I think I have learned that the multiple reentry permit sorta exempts you, in practicality.

5. They don't worry about it.

6. They sorta know who is who, and since i don't go to bars or get drunk or get into trouble, it seems like i get treated with more respect than some guys I know who seem to be seen often acting undesirably.

7. last year they told me in one office to come 6 weeks early, this year i went to a different office 6 weeks early and they told me 4 weeks early and to come back next week. the organized all my paperwork, stamped it together, wrote a list of 3 more pages from my pport they desired, and told me to bring it back with the 3 extra pages, they gave me in writing.

8. I always get courteous and easy service. I have seen people who have an "attitude" get sent to Malaysia to get a 3 month extension, while they were issuing me a 3 month visa in their office at the same time. What some people don't seem to understand is that the Thai, especially the good ones, are EXPERTS at showing respect, and before they open their mouth, the must ascertain if you are beneath, equal, or above them. And, many "man farang" do not behave like respectable "tang daeng." So why would a Thai, who has been trained all his life to give and receive respect, desire to show a "Man Farang" or a "Manthet," respect and courtesy? They would term such a person as an "unwanted alien."

I'm going this afternoon and will provide a clear, factual and concise report following.

( now I just have to find a pair of long pants that still fits... )

Ok..

As promised.

I'm dressed in my best sunday go to meetin clothes, made sure my paperwork was in order, ha, one page and my passport..I was gunna have to go to the "sugar shack" and pay my bhat for some copies when I get there....

"DING DONG..." ( door bell )

Low and behold it's Bunta71, bored and looking for sumptin' to do. " You're too late" I tell 'em as his pulls up to my porch on his cheesy girly bike Honda. " Off to La Migra " I tell him. He wants to go. Now that's bored.

Head 'em up...Ride 'em out

We arrive at Immigration at 1305 hrs. Bunta sez he is going to wait int he parking lot, "since it won't be 5 minutes.." and he gets his chance on the babes floating around.

To the sugar shack to get my copies and she is unusually friendly..we joke around for several minutes, she wants a phone number, I meet with her later ( a different story..) and off to the counter of gloom I go, minus 2 bhat mind you..professional discount ya know ( read above)..

Busy, but not too busy. Couple of old burn out's, hippie broad acting out as nun ( 60 yr old burn out )

numerous Japanese..I walk to the 90 dayer window and see one other passport laying there, I place mine on top and have a sit.

" Mr. GPDJOHN" in the weird sounding kinda Martian thangy...

To the counter..he throws it at me and says in Thai.." _ _ _ _" and "_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ " !!!

I couldn't believe it.

I reached through the window and grabbed a scruff of his hair and comenced to pull as hard as I could..he began to scream.." _ _ _ __ _-_ _ !!!" and then I managed to get him out and onto the ground.

He quickly stood up and screamed " _ _ _- _ _- _ ", I managed to duck from the right foot spinnng back kick he did and managed to leg sweep him down. We struggled as we landed on the concreat floor..

I got a son que on his left arm and applied it as hard as I could, he legged seeped me and down again we both went, with me on top...I felt a sharp burning sensation on my left thigh. I looked down and saw that he ripped through my trousers with his long fingernails which laid a 4 inch gash in my thigh.

" Ahhhhhh", I screamed..." you phuker " and started at him with my best windmill style punches..

The people at the counter area quickly gathered into a large circle that surrounded us...

" Fight...Fight!!! " They were screaming...

Ah...

just kidding.

In and out within 6 minutes. Bunta was happy and wanted to leave really really fast.....wonder why?? :o
