Translation Of Affirmation

Featured Replies

Me and the GF are getting hitched in October. The Thai Consulate in Hull have confirmed they will translate my affirmation of freedom to marry (for a fee), prior to me travelling. We intend then going to the UK consulate in Chiang Mai to get it signed and then going to the Amphur. Has anyone done this themselves? I cant see any impediment to doing this, but if anyone can see any problems I would be grateful to hear.

cheers

You must have the document from UK consulate translated and then legalized as a true copy.

This must be done at MFA "ministry of foreign affairs".

I did this last week and the legalization alone took three hours.

Try to get a translation service that translates the document and takes it to MFA for legalization.

Maybe you can find a company in Chiang mai and save you the trip to BKK.

Going to Amphur tomorrow 08/08/08.

Lucky, lucky :o

Never heard of a consulate office translating before as it is usually done by an independent office. This must then be notarised as a true translation at the Ministery of Foreign Affairs in Wattana BKK or equivelant in CMai. Either way, be sure to have all the necessary official embossed stamps or the registrar will not accept it. Documents only valid for 6 months after issue.

Thanks for the replies. The thing that concerns me is that the translation will not, of course, have the signature and stamp details translated. The Consulate in Hull have told me that they haven't done this before, which leads me to believe that I might need to get the translation done when i am there before going to the MFA. I will get it done anyway and then see what the MFA say. If they wont process it without the signature and stamp translated I can easily get it done in BKK anyway. If they accept it I will post on here. I know it will probably at best save me 1 day, but I will give it a try. Thanks again gents.
