English And Thai In Ie Dialogs

Featured Replies

A friend just got an Acer laptop with a legit copy of Vista installed. When downloading in IE (and maybe under other circumstances) the dialog boxes display choices in Thai. He wants only English to be shown.

What should be checked to solve his problem? I've already set the Language Bar correctly and the Control Panel's Regional Language settings as well (but perhaps not correctly).

Thanks.

Go to Acer and ask for an English DVD for Vista or let them install the English version but don't forget to save all Data to an external device before.. You need to get from Acer because they had modified the contents and slipstreamed some drivers and so to it.

The problem is that the Thai Version of Vista you can't change some of the Thai setting back to English.

Cheers.

Thanks Reimar, but I think that I must not have put the question properly.

My friend bought his Acer with Vista pre-installed by Acer. A paid for copy of the OS.

On it, I checked out a number of programs. There were English only drop down menus in Windows Explorer, My Computer, MS Word, IE.

When, in IE, after starting a download from a USA site, a Thai language dialog box displayed.

He couldn't complete the download, not being able to read Thai.

Perhaps some "Regional Setting" triggered this, with his IP address showing Thailand.

I tried a number of changes to Regional Settings in Control Panel, rebooting each time, but the download condition persisted.

Thanks.

My friend got a not helpful reply from Acer to his queries then took the laptop back to Tukcom. The tech rep said "oh, you've got Windows Download Manager" or "a Windows Download Manager", deleted it and now all is well.
