Just ran a forum search but the latest info seems to be dated 2002.

- What is the current oversees/local employee ratio for a limited company?

- I understand a certain wedge is required on the bank statements before qualifying to hire an overseas person - if so, what is it?

- Assuming the overseas vs local staff ratios stack up - but the company's bank balance isn't robust enough - what other measures, if any, can be taken?

- Are there any implications if, for example, a company overseas 'parachutes in' an oversees employee of their own to work as a 'consultant' for the local company?

Your intel is much appreciated.

Any foreigner needs a work permit to legally work here, consultant or not; if you are caught working without one, then the penalties can involve deportation.

Most labour departments now insist on a ratio of 4 thai employees per foreigner, per work permit.

Also the company needs 'Capitalisation' of 2,000,000 THB per work permit issued. This is not cash in the bank, it is a notional figure that can be registered for a few thousand baht per miilion of capitalisation. This capitalisation value can be shown in terms of assets, intellectual properties, etc, in a company's annual returns.
