> No I didn't... the Gigabyte drive is a Liteon rebadge.

Says who!!! You're calling my DVD baby a bastard hm !? :D

Just kidding.. out of all the things to get religious about... :o

Anyway, how about this: ULead Moviefactory sucks mud for authoring DVDs. I bought it thinking it would be better than Nero which came with my drive. Ha!! It crashed adding an MP3 background tune to the title menu and trancoded some S-VCD files all blurry/blocky.. And you can't even move titles and buttons around freely on the title page editor.. It's crap! To think I paid 100 baht for it.

:D

Cheers,

Chanchao

If you want a Pioneer 108 but don't want to pay the high price, the Asus DRW1604P is the same drive.  You can flash it with the pioneer firmware and get unlocked speeds.

I picked up one of these in Hong Kong a few weeks ago (was advised to get it because it was the Pioneer at a lower price). I've been travelling too much to do a lot with it but the thing that shocked me was how quiet it is. I thought it wasn't working at first when I compared it to my 18mth old TDK CD burner! :D

Thanks for the info about the Pioneer firmware :o
