Recently my HP6000dv laptop advised me to update all drivers and install Vista SP1. I was surprised it took so long for the advise!

Now whenever I switch off my laptop, the clock stops. When I turn it on, the clock restarts at the time I stopped. Any idea what is going on here? Is this a Windows Vista SP1 issue (it only happened after the upgrade) or hardware related? I checked the RTC battery and it seems ok still on the volt meter. I also tested checking Internet time syn on or off with no luck there either?

If your Laptop still have warranty and I think he has, I would go to the HP Service Center at Rama4 Road in Bangkok (if you in BKK) and let them deal with it!

Could be a bug in the upgrade!

Cheers.

Yes. I first wanted to just buy a new RTC battery for the BIOS and see if this is problem as I suspect it might be. I went to HP Rama 4 to ask for one and they said I couldn't buy one unless I returned the old one which I didn't have with me at time? They also said it would take time. They even suggested I could buy one cheaper in Pantip!

Anyone know the reasoning behind such a bizarre service? I have neither the time or money to waste going to this Rama4 HP service center unless I really need to having experienced similar treatment before when I wanted a replacement Compaq main battery.

If your Laptop still has warranty, HP must replace the battery if they is fault. But you need to bring the Laptop to the HP service Center.

You're right, the service is terrible. Maybe the Dealer were you bought that laptop can take care for that?!

Cheers.

Well I bought a new laptop BIOS battery at Pantip but it still doesn't fix the BIOS clock time which is fixed at last power down time whenever I boot up again, so looks like HP will have to service this or I live with the clock error and update it every time I turn on the laptop.
