"Whats-her-name" is also pretty sharp. When was the last time the Dems appointed a minority female to SecOfState or NSA? Walking the walk is much different than talking the talk.

I'm sure Powell's exit strategy has been on the table for more than just the last week. It is all part of a grander role, one that will hopefully see him running for the presidency in a few years. One of the main reasons for him leaving at this point is for him to have time to evaluate what it would take to make that happen.

It's true that he doesn't see eye-to-eye with Cheney and Rumsfeld, but would any president actually want a cabinet where all the members see eye-to-eye. IN hindsight I suppose there are .... a few names come to mind .... Castro, Kim, Arafat, etc.
