I (UK) have a non-B visa and am planning on flying to Thailand soon to apply for my work permit and start work (I have a job offer).

Will the airline allow me to fly in on a one-way flight, or will they insist on seeing a ticket for an onward/return flight? My assumption is that they will as long as I hold only a non-B visa and no work permit yet, but that this will change after I receive the WP. Is this correct? Any advice gratefully received, thanks.

Single ticket will not be a problem if you have a non immigrant B visa.

On a practical note, single tickets are often almost as expensive as a return; So if you intend to go back at some point in the following year, then it's worth getting a return ticket and 'parking' the return trip at the latest possble return date. You can then move that return trip (normally for a fee) to the actual date you choose to fly back.

Yep, exactly right. Of course when you want to park your return, make sure you buy a ticket with enough validity.

A three month ticket cannot be changed after three months and becomes void for transport.
