Her name is Jane, she's 27yrs old.

She's been a good friend for about a year and recently got a job for the Patong Tower auctions which posted her and her fellow employees/friends to Phuket from Bangkok.

Knowing I was also in Phuket at the time and having not met for ages, she invited me to join her and her friends at a pizza place and later I gave her and a friend a life back to patong tower where she told me I could come up and use the bathroom, which I did, had a brief look at the view and then said goodbye moved on as I had other people to meet.

About a week ago she was dismissed after it had been revealed that a guest had entered her room.

She was shocked at first because she had no idea that these were the rules. Two of her colleagues were disgusted at her bosses strictness and failure to make such rules more clear that they also quit.

Now back in Bangkok, Jane is quite concerned about finding employment.

Her English is excellent, she's good looking and intelligent and has a degree in mass communication. Her usual salary is between 15,000 and 20,000 a month.

She blames herself for what has hapenned but I can't help feeling a little responsible for what has happened.

Not everybody is paid a teachers salary (which is usually more than 6,000 baht when you include extras). At age 27 do not find 15-20k out of reason for private sector employment.

No doubt she is, but I always maintain IT sector is different. The job we are talking about is an entry level job, not one with a special and rare skill base. FYI my co-worker earns over 70000 a month, so yes I am well aware some people do earn loads of money.

Why?

I have always had friends from all starta of society. Their monthly income is irrelevant to me. You tend to find those that DO use income as a major criteria for friendship lead sad and lonely lives. As I have said, some of my friends earn 70000 baht a month, some 7000, others even less. I have no problem with it. Why do you?
