Hi,

My 5th. retirement one year extension report at Kap Cheong Immigration (last two at Kap Cheong first two in Nan)

1. Passport + copies of all pages signed including the TM 6 form

2. Original of previous years embassy letter confirming pension (told this year needs the original and from next yea r a new original each time)

3. Foto

4. 1.900 baht

5. Bank book + signed copies (to show a 'living expenses' capability in Thailand, no set minimum balance or such)

6. Signed (by myself and partner) on the spot a printed paper that the immigration lady produced on her computer (details of my application, history and statement saying it is true, it included my name, passport number, date of birth, date of issue, date of expiry, history of extensions, etc. It was from memory already in the computer)

7. Signed copy of partner's ID card and tabien baan where we are resident

8. TM-7 form

Muti re-enry permit

1. Passport + copies of all pages signed (including the one with the brand new extension, page we had to run outside to copy)

2. Foto

3. 3.800 baht

4. TM-8 form

Residence certificate

1. Passport +copies of all pages signed (including the new extension stamp)

2. TWO fotos

3. 400 baht without receipt..., it was free the previous 4 years.....

4. Form

We arrived around 10am and there were e couples before us.

The young lady was alone and trying to get things done as quickly as possible doing 2 and sometimes 3 files at the same time so as to limit the waiting time.

She did a couple of 90 days reports in between also.

A couple more applicants were behind us for extensions

All was done at 11:30

She was very professional throughout

She did point out that we 'should' apply in Phu Sing as it is quite nearer to where we reside

I told her I was on my way from Bangkok and stayed the night in Surin (after a great meal at the Farang Connection, thanks Martin)

She said she had to enter a reason in her computer but that it was not a problem

I did not go to Phu Sing as there was a report and confirmed by a phone call that he requires a medical certificate and I did not want to risk having to go back if the certificate was not the format he wanted.

All in all a very easy painless morning at immigration, all set for another year.

There should not have been any need for "partner".

There should not have been a need for #5 as it is not part of the requirement.

There should not have been a need for #7 at it is not part of the requirement.

Number 6 item is normally signed by you and the Immigration officer.

Perhaps it is a one man operation and thus needed the extra signature from your "partner" - but in larger office the first Immigration official will sign that extra slip of paper and then the officer-in-charge signs the extension.

I am aware of the 'official' requirements, what they 'should' be but as you say different operations have different requirements

Hope it is of information and use to whoever will go to Kap Cheong fro their extension
