September 6, 200817 yr Hi just a quick question regarding my wife's UK settlement application. Her Thai passport will have about 14 months left to run when she submits her application. My simple question. Will she have to renew her passport? One of my friend's say's "She doesn't have to." Can someone confirm this for me. Many thanks
September 7, 200817 yr 14 months left is more than enough for a settlement application. Obviously she will need to renew it once it expires and assuming she will be living in the UK at that time she can do this at the Thai embassy in London.

September 11, 200817 yr Yes, correct. If she can apply for Cit ship then go for that alos - dual natianality for her an dyour childredn if you hav ethem. Same as me. My wife is now Brit/Thai and both her an dmy daughter (born in UK ) have dual. Good luck
September 12, 200817 yr Indefinite Leave to Remain does not lapse if the passport bearing the vignette has expired. Of course, she will need to renew her passport if she ever wishes to travel out of the UK. Even if she does become a dual British/Thai national she will still need her Thai passport to enter and leave Thailand as doing so on a British passport means she would be treated, for immigration purposes, as a British citizen, not a Thai one.
