SOURCE: Pattaya One News: September 10th 2008

Pattaya Police announce the arrest of 13 people caught with drugs and guns.

On Tuesday Evening at Pattaya Police Station, Police Colonel Nopadon, the Chief of Pattaya Police conducted one of his regular press conferences to announce the arrest of 13 individuals involved in consumption and selling class 1 drugs and two men were caught with firearms.

Each case is thought to be unconnected. The most serious case presented to journalists detailed the arrest of Khun Yongyut aged 31 who was caught with 1,156 Yabba Tablets following an undercover operation which took place earlier in the day in front of Soi 61 on the Sukumvit Road in North Pattaya.

A further 9 Yabba Tablets seized in the other cases were on display along with two firearms which were seized from Khun Argon aged 25 and Khun Egashai also aged 25. The 13 arrestees will now face a judge in the coming days who will decide their fate.

And this is newsworthy to TV readership because.....? :o

Maybe because it's nice to see that the local plod are doing more than just handing out the odd (deserved) ticket to some local expat, who then whines in the local papers about how unjustly he was treated just because he is a farang (and not because he was driving an unlicenced, uninsured moto in a reckless manner of course).

It's also refreshing to see that not all crime in Pattaya invloves farangs (tourist/expats). People complain about how dangerous it is (or seems to be) here, because the only stories they ever see involve farangs.

Some people may take comfort from the article as well, knowing that a couple more gun-toting drug dealers are off the streets (for a little while at least). 13 isn't even the "tip of the iceberg" in the overall picture, but it's still that many fewer than yesterday !
