I've noticed a couple brands aside from Kubota and Yanmar showing up in our area. One is Mitsubishi and the other is yellow and says Euro on it, anyone know anything about these? I can't see how these dealers plan to get there foot in the door against the well established Kubota and Yanmar, they don't even stocks parts or offer service.

Chinese knock-off's of the real thing? - they're very good at it - I have seen Chinese made tractors branded as Ford and New Holland. New Holland has a number of ongoing intellectual property disputes with Chinese copy cats. So they could come from anywhere.

Chances are the parts are generic - take a look at any Chinese made 18hp - 26hp or 26hp - 36hp made tractor and you'll find if they have a 2 x 8 gearbox all the parts will be identical, irrespective of the brandname (they just copy each other), and will be a copy of a well established and popular Iseki or Yanmar model of the same power output group.

Are they any good? - wouldn't touch one with a barge pole - complete rubbish.

It seems most Thais agree as I haven't seen a single one working the fields and they have been trying to sell them for well over a year. Reminds me of Platinum motorcycles that were once sold locally also until the Thais wised up to what crap they are.

I have noticed in the Loei area that there are more Chinese products being sold than before. Maybe I should have said more Chinese products OFFERED for sale. They don't seem to be gaining much market share. South of Loei on highway 201 I noticed a new combination used vehicle and tractor sales opening up. I didn't see the brand name of the tractors. There is also a large new Yanmar dealer getting started in the same area. The Yanmar dealer may be one of the city dealerships expanding. Five years ago tractor dealers were few and far between.

I can remember when the Japanese were starting in the auto market, Television etc. They copied for the most part and their products considered junk and less kind words by most of us. Look where they ended up. The Chinese are experts at making copies, so when they start using up to standard material they will have to be reconded with. We would all probably be surprised at what is being built in China for the international market places.
